Successful completion of the OSSLT is a requirement for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. This test is scheduled and administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) once each year, usually at the end of March or the beginning of April.
Students typically complete this course in Grade 10. Students who do not complete the test successfully will have the opportunity to write it in subsequent years.
WPLC can organize the test administration for students whose OSR is kept at WPLC. Students may also write the test at an alternative location if they make special arrangements as specified by the Ministry of Education. The test must be supervised by a suitable official who satisfies the requirements outlined by EQAO.
If a student has been unsuccessful at the OSSLT twice, they can be eligible to take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OLC 30/40). This course is offered by WPLC and interested students should contact WPLC guidance office or register today.
